Change is Coming

There are two defining events this year that will herald the future direction of governments across the world

Change is Coming

Last weeks message certainly struck a chord with many subscribers. The myriad responses indicated how individuals prioritise their lives according to what they consider most important.

Many suggested my health, wealth and happiness mantra should have included a spiritual element. They could be right but surely that can be a component of happiness for those that are called to that path.

The key thing to understand is we all have choices about how to live our lives. My theory is that if you are physically healthy, financially secure and emotionally content, you will have more freedom to pursue what’s important to you.

Those pursuits will be different for all of us depending on what stage of life we are at. That said, every day we all have to make choices about how to maximise our time and efforts.

Some will be drawn to business or sport or family and friends. Others may choose learning, prayer, charity or anything else. But being in a position to make that choice is dependent on your health, your resources and your knowledge.

The last few months have shown what happens when the freedom to choose is taken away from us.

Health pressures have seen many confined to their residence with little or no social interaction. The inability to work has left many struggling financially and dependent of government support. Both have brought on levels of anxiety and worry exacerbated through alarmist fear mongering by many in the media.

Now, as we emerge from that scenario and try to rebuild our lives it’s incumbent on us to prepare ourselves so we aren’t as vulnerable again.

I don’t mean invulnerable to a virus or pandemic, but physically, financially and emotionally resilient enough to manage no matter what the government throws our way.

It’s clear many in charge (particularly at State level) have come to like the ability to direct our lives in a more authoritarian manner. The intoxicating effect of authority won’t be relinquished lightly and now the precedent has been set, could manifest itself in all manner of scenarios.

That’s what we have to prepare ourselves for...more government ’for our own good’.

Of course I don’t believe bigger government is in our interest but they will be presenting it as such.

I foresee two significant tests in the latter part of the year that could determine how the future will be shaped.

The first is how the world responds to the Chinese government involvement in the Coronavirus pandemic. If it’s only diplomatic lip-service and China remains at the heart of global trade then authoritarianism will take a big leap forward.

The second will be the US Presidential election.

Whatever you think of Trump, he is all that stands between a rabidly left wing (and authoritarian) Democratic alternative. The US liberal intolerance has manifested itself in the fake news media, weaponised identity politics and has done serious damage to trust in their institutions.

They hate Trump, not because of his human failings, but because he stands in opposition to their path. If they win, the US will be changed forever and I cannot see it remaining as the torchbearer of liberty that is has been for so long.
