Do Ends Justify the Means?

History may determine that extreme measures are justified to achieve a given result. It may not be so kind to what is happening today

The cri de coeur of the radical is that the ends are justified by the means to attain them.

That rational suggests that if a goal is deemed morally important enough then whatever method of attaining it is acceptable.

It is a phrase of  19th century Russian revolutionary Sergey Nechayev and has been adopted by plenty of power hungry people since then.
