I've been critical of the global Coronavirus response since the start because the public narrative have not matched real world events. Initially this resulted in a lot of criticism (and it still does), but the data increasingly supports my thesis that the over-reaction to Corona is actually cover for something else.
The World Health Organisation estimates that more than 750 million people have had or do have Coronavirus. They also record the deaths from Covid-19 as around 1.4 million people. That's a fatality rate under 0.2 percent.
When you exclude the obviously bogus data which counts motorcycle accidents, ladder falls and poisonings as Covid-19 deaths, the actual rate is much closer to a regular flu season.
That's an inconvenient truth but it is valid just the same and virtually no government, media outlet or health professional wants you to know it. The question is why?
This week a Johns Hopkins University (JHU) study of Covid-a9 statistics was published on their website. It was taken down a short time later.
The study entitled "A Closer look at U.S deaths due to Covid-19" was published on 22 November and deleted on 27 November.
JHU claimed that it "may have spread to misinformation about COVID-19". At no stage did they say the study was wrong or the analysis flawed. They just didn't like the conclusions it reached.
Though making clear the need for further research, the article was being used to support false and dangerous inaccuracies about the impact of the pandemic. We regret that this article may have contributed to the spread of misinformation about COVID-19.
Here's the real problem for JHU.The study shows no increase in deaths in 2020 related to prior years.
That simply doesn't fit the JHU model of scaring people silly with their Corona death statistics.
The author is Genevieve Briand, assistant program director of the Applied Economics master’s degree program at JHU, and her conclusions clearly rocked the alarmists. She writes:
There is a sudden increase in deaths in 2020 due to COVID-19. This is no surprise because COVID-19 emerged in the U.S. in early 2020, and thus COVID-19-related deaths increased drastically afterward.
But the really interesting finding was:
When Briand looked at the 2020 data during that seasonal period, COVID-19-related deaths exceeded deaths from heart diseases. This was highly unusual since heart disease has always prevailed as the leading cause of deaths. However, when taking a closer look at the death numbers, she noted something strange.
As Briand compared the number of deaths per cause during that period in 2020 to 2018, she noticed that instead of the expected drastic increase across all causes, there was a significant decrease in deaths due to heart disease. Even more surprising, as seen in the graph below, this sudden decline in deaths is observed for all other causes.
The study finds “the total decrease in deaths by other causes almost exactly equals the increase in deaths by COVID-19.”
Here's another inconvenient truth, the deaths across all age groups has stayed pretty much the same - before and during the pandemic. Have a look at the graph below.
It's little wonder that universities like JHU that have a vested interest in pronging the alarmism don't want their own study available.
However, thanks to the wonders of the Internet, even though it's been deleted by JHU from their own website, it is still up on the web archive page. Don't worry, I've got a backup copy in case they seek to delete it from there too.
