The Times They Are a-Changin'

The world has been through revolutions of different types many times before. The latest socialist one will collapse like all previous experiments with collectivism.

The Times They Are a-Changin'

Bob Dylan has some special talents and they inspired my musings this week.

Come senators, congressmen, please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway, don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt will be he who has stalled
The battle outside ragin'
Will soon shake your windows and rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'

Bob Dylan's iconic song from 1964 was an anthem of change set when the civil rights movement and folk music were firmly entwined. It has proved a popular cover for many musicians as the lyrics lend themselves to different generations.

The third verse (published above) could as easily apply to our current circumstance as much as those of the 60's. I wonder if anyone who lived through that era considers the events then as insane as they are now?

Maybe they felt crazy at the time but the passage of decades has rendered that revolution relatively mundane.

There's no doubt that we are living in some form of revolution now. The established order has been relegated to the fringes as a broad social experiment is played out globally.

The purge by the socialists is moving faster than ever with more and more normal events, institutions and people being cancelled. The civil rights movement of the flower power generation has become the competing rights agenda of 2021.

Does the right of a transgender triumph over the rights of girls to compete on a level biological playing field? Yes, in this brave new world.

Is the content of one's character more important than the colour of their skin? Not any more.

Are we still allowed to pursue the God given gifts of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Only when it is approved by the overlords of wokedom.

We even have Asian students now being told they have 'white privilege' because they are doing so well in schools and colleges.

The world really is in a parlous state and many are only just starting to realise how far we have fallen. The gradual erosion of our foundational truths has been largely ignored under the mantra of tolerance and equality.

The problem is we can only all be truly equal when the application of our civil code applies equally to us all.

Then, it is our behaviour, our talents, our work ethic and our skills that will determine the outcome; not some elected official or meddling bureaucrat.

Those who have publicly warned of the inevitability of these events over the years have been marginalised and cast aside by the ruling elites. Now they are seeking to cast less vocal dissenters into the same pile.

Identifying those not 'morally pure' ( by contemporary wokester standards) is getting easier thanks to technology.

Have the wrong app or post the wrong link and it will be tracked and noted. Fail to wear a mask and you will be put on the list. Don't have a vaccine passport: prepare for your freedoms to be curtailed.

In the new socialist utopia these are all signs of rebellion and there is no room for rebels at the Woketopian Inn. The challenge will be how the rational and sensible can stay united and strong until this new socialist phase collapses like every previous ones.

We should heed the words attributed to Benjamin Franklin after signing the US Declaration of Independence "we must all hang together, or ... we shall all hang separately."
