A lot of people will have you think the slippery slope argument is a fallacy.

The argument goes like this. A small step leads to a chain of related events that culminate in some significant (usually negative) effect.

Those who call BS on this claim it ignores the possibility of middle ground being held and is thus a form of continuum fallacy.

It's actually possible for both to be right. On some issues, the middle ground is found and is often held for long periods of time.
