I met Prince Philip once.
He was accompanying Her Majesty the Queen during an Australian tour and a reception was held for them at Parliament House in Canberra. As a Senator, I was invited along and as a constitutional monarchist I was delighted to attend.
Like Philip, I accompanied my wife.
It was a wonderful occasion and it was an extraordinary privilege to meet two of extraordinary people who have exemplified dignity and service in public life.
However the evening was marked by the indignity of some of the guests.
